Elvis Presley
Elvis Presley was a famous musician and actor in the mid-1950s and was known for his rock-n-roll style music. Elvis grew up with a rough childhood and was even bullied for being different than the other kids.
Rough Childhood
Elvis Presley was born in Tupelo, Mississippi on January 8th 1935. When Elvis was born he had a twin that became stillborn. Later on, his mother (Gladys) became so sick over the lost that she had to be hospitalized. After the doctor visit she returned home with Elvis to find out that Elvis’s dad (Vernon) was sent to prison for 3 years for forgery. So they had to move in with some relatives.
Growing Up With Music
Elvis’s family was constantly moving to get to a better place so Elvis only had two things consistent in his childhood, his parents and music. He began to grow into playing music and singing. He got his first guitar from his mother on his 11th birthday. Throughout his childhood he was picked on for being different than other kids.
Starting His Career
Elvis learned to make his own styled music he created from every kind of music he had listened to in the past. By the time Elvis graduated from high school, he could sing in various styles, from hillbilly to gospel. The first person to realize that Elvis had a talent was Sam Phillips at Sun Records. On June 6th 1954 Elvis received a call from Sun Records offering him a big break. After creating his first album “That's All Right (Mama)” people started to go crazy for Elvis.
On Stage
People went crazy for Elvis anywhere he went especially teenager. They would scream, cheered and even mobbed him back stage until they had everything. Teenagers loved his style and how he could move on the dance floor, but adult took it the wrong way and believed it to be sexual. Later on, Elvis realized he needed a manager, he chose Tom Parker. Tom sometimes took advantage of Elvis but got Elvis to become a super star.
Collapse and Shattering Death
Beginning with his fame he started going around the world and had no time for sleep so he started to take prescription drugs to help. He later started to over dose on drugs and became overweight, aggression, and moody behavior. He began to argue and fight his wife and it took a while but the 2 finally got a divorce which mad the drug problem worse to the point of death! On the morning of August 16, 1977, Elvis' girlfriend, Ginger Alden, found Elvis on the bathroom floor at Graceland. She took him to the hospital and was pronounced dead at 3:30 pm at the age of 42.
